First ever grand-round style teaching format offers over 100 accredited online lectures covering broad range of medical and surgical topics
Cherry Hill, NJ – Graduate Education Foundation, Inc. (GEF), a Cherry Hill-based non-profit foundation dedicated to training a new generation of healthcare providers through improved medical education, today announced an innovative new series of on-line continuing medical education lectures for doctors and other healthcare professionals. The content features lectures by the world's leading authorities, while remaining totally objective and free from commercial influences. All profits will be used to enhance bedside education at the Medical School and post graduate residency level by awarding institutional Master Teacher Grants.
"Nothing this comprehensive has ever been available for healthcare professionals – the ability to have available at their fingertips a clinical information library and an online educational resource for day to day support is invaluable," said Michael S. Feldman, M.D., Founder and Chairman of GEF, and a practicing cardiologist and professor of medicine at Drexel University College of Medicine, "We know from experience that the grand rounds format is the most effective teaching tool. With the support of outstanding doctors and educators, and through the application of advanced video production and computer graphics, we’ve achieved our goal of producing a series of interactive programs that comes as close to grand rounds without attending the conference."
Developed by leading physician-educators, many of whom have contributed to the basic text in their specialty, CMElectures.org consist of more than 100 fully accredited, multi-media presentations covering a broad spectrum of specialty care and medical and surgical related issues. Lecture series are offered in 18 areas of specialty including pain management, cardiology, rheumatology/arthritis, pediatrics and emergency medicine. Each lecture is original, evidence-based, and relevant to the practice of medicine in today's dynamic health care environment. Physicians and other healthcare professionals can easily enroll and have instant and unlimited access to world-class medical authorities as if they were accompanying them on grand rounds.
Subscribers, including those in rural areas that lack ready access to medical specialists, can log in "on their own time and terms". Unlike traditional CME courses offered in hotels and conference centers, the GEF "classroom" can be accessed at any time, from anywhere that there is an internet connection, from a meeting room to a living room.
"Medicine is changing so rapidly that it is difficult to keep up with current best practices," adds Dr. Feldman. "We are embracing the web-based technology and tailoring the programs to the physicians and other healthcare professionals to help them make better informed decisions about patient care. The content is routinely reviewed and updated as practice standards change, providing the most up-to-date information available."
CMElectures.org have been integrated into educational programming by prestigious medical schools, teaching institutions and both state and national medical societies. All lectures are accredited through the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education and Drexel University College of Medicine and provide CME credit. CMElectures.org provides doctors and other healthcare professionals with a reliable clinical resource or library that can be utilized in day-to-day practice.
David Nash, M.D., M.B.A., Founder and Chairman of the Department of Health Policy at Jefferson Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, is a member of the GEF faculty and its Medical Board of Advisors. "The successful blend of an extraordinarily knowledgeable faculty, and the ability to leverage leading-edge, digital production techniques with an Internet-based delivery system, has resulted in what is truly the next generation of continuing medical education," says Dr. Nash, an international expert on outcomes management, medical staff development, and quality-of-care improvement. "I think doctors will not only watch the programs to gain their CME credits, but refer to them repeatedly as an important practice resource." Unlike the majority of CME programs, the GEF series is completely independent of special interest funding, including support from pharmaceutical companies or medical device manufacturers. This preserves the integrity of the content and the objectivity of the distinguished faculty.
